“All is not well in the house of the balisier.”
So says independent candidate for the Scarborough/Calder Hall district, Dr Denise Tsoiafatt-Angus, who declared that the PNM will not win all 12 seats in the January 25 Tobago House of Assembly (THA) election.
In a WhatsApp voicenote on Wednesday, Tsoiafatt-Angus urged Tobagonians to ignore all the rhetoric, “designed to give to Tobagonians the perception that all is well in the house of the balisier."
She added, “People are frustrated, disenfranchised – not with the party, but with a number of the representatives chosen by its current Tobago leadership to represent them. Maybe 20 years ago they may have still voted for bad representation, but people are smarter now, they are wiser now and they are more politically savvy.”
She has expressed confidence in capturing the Scarborough/Calder Hall electoral district from the incumbent, PNM’s Marslyn Melville-Jack.
“Scarborough/Calder Hall is definitely not going the PNM’s way. Its incumbent has failed in every way to represent the people, support the people and look after the interests of the people. I speak for this constituency because I know after the abuse the people felt at her hands over the past four years, she has wasted all her political currency in Scarborough/Calder Hall and she has nothing left to secure enough votes to put her into the Assembly."
