6 Venezuelan migrants held in Penal

SIX Venezuelans, who police believe entered the country illegally, and a Trinidadian man were detained in Penal on Friday.

In a release, police said they intercepted a gold-coloured seven-seater van at Bunsee Trace Extension, Penal, which was being driven by a 36-year-old man from Grieg Street, Balmain, Couva.

The passengers were two Venezuelan women and four Venezuelan men, whose  ages ranged from 18 to 39.

The driver and the passengers were detained and taken to the Siparia Health Facility, where they were examined. The exercise was led by Snr Supt Neil Brandon-John, Supt Singh and Insp Simon, and supervised by Sgt Crawford.
