Senate to debate Evidence Bill on Tuesday

THE Senate will hold its first sitting for 2021 on January 12, at the Red House from 1.30 pm.

The main item on the agenda will be debate on the Evidence (Amendment) Bill, 2020.

The objective of the bill is to amend the Evidence Act, to provide for the use of different identification procedures, interviews and oral admissions, special measures evidence by video link.

Apart from any urgent questions, which will be known on January 12, the Government has a total of ten questions for oral answer, five from Opposition senators and the other five from Independent senators.

Of the ten questions, five are directed to Finance Minister Colm Imbert on matters involving the Curepe Interchange, National Insurance Board. Supplemental Petroleum Tax, the World Bank and efforts to help small, micro and medium businesses deal with the socio-economic challenges they currently face.

There are no sittings of the House of Representatives scheduled as yet.
