Investigators from the Homicide Bureau Region 1 are continuing enquiries into skeletal remains found by construction workers at the Port of Spain General Hospital on Wednesday morning.

Police said the health and safety officer at the site contacted them at around 11 am when an excavator operator found the remains while working at the southern end of the hospital near the old car park.

Belmont police went there with a district medical officer, who confirmed the bones were human.

The remains were removed by a funeral home and homicide investigators visited the scene.

Up to Thursday morning police could not determine the identity of the remains.

DNA testing is expected to be done on the remains.
