Ten new covid19 cases, no deaths reported

Ten new cases of covid19 have been reported from samples taken between January 3 and 5.

One of the cases is from Tobago.

No new deaths have been reported, so the total number of deaths remains at 127.

The number of active cases on Wednesday stood at 325, one more than Tuesday.

Since March, there have been 7,196 cases, of which 6,744 people recovered.

There were 23 people in hospital yesterday, 19 at the Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility, with two people in the intensive care unit and two in the high dependency unit. There was one patient at the Caura Hospital and two at the Scarborough Regional Hospital at the Fort.

There were 25 patients in hospital on Tuesday.

Sixty-three people remain in step-down facilities, including 17 at the Claxton Bay Correctional Facility, 44 at UWI Debe and two in Tobago.

There were 232 people in state quarantine facilities, 12 more than Tuesday, and 229 people in home self-isolation, nine more than Tuesday. Of these, 17 are in the care of the prison system.

The update said a total of 74,625 people have been tested to date, 33,346 at private facilities.
