Active covid19 cases continue to fall

Four new covid19 cases were reported on Saturday, bringing the total in TT to 7,162.

The Ministry of Health’s 4 pm covid19 update said the four were from samples taken between December 30, 2020 and January 1, 2021.

Despite this increase, the total number of active cases dropped by five to 355 from the day before.

The number of deaths, hospital patients, and those at step-down facilities remain the same at 127, 25 and 66 respectively. While the number in state quarantine facilities increased by three to 219, and the number in home self-isolation decreased by one to 260. Of the of the 260 people in home self-isolation, 17 were in the care of the prison system.

The number of tests done in TT was 72,596, a small increase from 72,534 on Friday, with 31,802 being done at private facilities.
