1 death, 18 new covid19 cases on last day of the year

The Ministry of Health recorded one death and 18 new covid19 cases on Thursday, the last day of 2020.

The new cases reflect samples taken between December 28 and 30.

The 4pm update on Thursday said there have now been 127 deaths.

The number of positive cases decreased to 373 from 378 on Wednesday.

The update also said two of the 18 new cases are from Tobago.

The total number of positive cases is 7,150, of whom 6,650 patients have recovered.

There are 28 patients in hospitals and 65 in step-down facilities. A total of 220 patients are in state quarantine facilities and there are 262 people in self-isolation.

Of those in self-isolation, 17 are in the care of the prison system.

The update said a total of 72,322 people have had tests to date, of which 31,802 were done at private facilities.
