ATTORNEY, actor and singer Clyde James is dead, according to posts on his Facebook page.

The sad news of the 57-year-old former Carenage resident came on Monday, just five days after he had publicly revealed he had caught covid19 in the United Kingdom, where he had worked as an attorney at the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner since 2001.

Up until 1980 James attended St Mary’s College, Port of Spain, where he acted in Agatha Christie's play The Mousetrap along with actor Cecilia Salazar and social activist Colin Robinson.

Salazar said she was shocked to hear the sad news from Newsday, but recalled fond memories of acting with him.

“He represented St Mary’s at three music festivals and toured Vienna. He was a great singer,” she recalled.

Salazar said it has been a sad year for TT’s theatre fraternity, with the passing of Tony Hall, Anthony Medina and now James.

Actor Michael Cherrie paid tribute to James on Facebook as “a CIC and Facebook brother, steadfast and devoted husband, family man and friend.”

Cherrie said, “No words. Make new and wonderful vibrations in that new realm with the Lord. Godspeed brother. My deepest condolences to his devoted wife and family.”

James is survived by his wife Andrea.
