Homeless man found dead on pavement in Barataria

Police are looking into the death of a homeless man outside a restaurant on the Eastern Main Road, Barataria, on Tuesday.

Police said the owner of the restaurant was opening the building at around 10 am when he saw the man lying on the ground.

He tried to wake up the man but realised he was unresponsive and called an ambulance.

Police along with a district medical officer went to the scene, where the man was declared dead.

He was identified as Junior Paria, aka "Step Up," a known street dweller.

Police from North Eastern Division are continuing enquiries.
