The Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development launched an island-wide Christmas clean-up campaign on Wednesday.

This is expected to run until December 21 and is being done in collaboration with the Community-based Environmental Programme and Enhancement Programme (CEPEP) and the Unemployment Relief Programme (URP).

A release from the division said during the clean-up, between 6 am and 6 pm, old household items and other derelict items will be collected.

On Wednesday items were collected in the Crown Point, Buccoo, Canaan/Bon Accord, Mt Pleasant, Carnbee, Bethel and Mt Irvine areas.

On Thursday the initiative moved to Lambeau, Signal Hill, Scarborough, Calder Hall, Bacolet and Mt St George.

And on Friday and Saturday, the clean-up teams will collect items from the north and east sides of Tobago.

The release pointed out that construction and agricultural waste would not be collected as part of this campaign.
