FORMER TT women’s football team midfielder Ahkeela “Lady Latapy” Mollon has taken up the role as director of women’s football in Anguilla, effective November 1.

The 35-year-old Mollon is the second TT player to be given an appointment from the Anguilla Football Association. Legendary TT striker Stern John was named coach of the Anguilla men’s team in October.

Mollon’s role will also include coaching the Anguilla women’s team.

She has also been entrusted with the task of developing an overall programme for the growth and development of women’s football in Anguilla.

She has played for TT at the junior and senior levels, between 2002 and 2016, and has also developed her own coaching school, the M12 Football Academy, in Chaguanas.

In a post on her Facebook page on Sunday, Mollon wrote, “Patience, humbleness, hard work and passion. God will use all those qualities to reward his children. Thanks be to God for the pathway he creates for my life. Just the start.”

Mollon and John join the likes of ex-TT players and coaches Izler Browne (US Virgin Islands), Rajesh Latchoo (Dominica), Jamaal Shabazz (St Lucia) and Russell Latapy (Barbados) to seek employment within the Caribbean region.
