Mayaro fireman killed by truck in front home

FIREMAN Satesh Ramkissoon was standing in front of his Bristol Village, Mayaro home awaiting a taxi to head to take up his shift at the Mayaro Fire Station when he was hit by a runaway truck on Monday evening.

Ramkissoon, 37, who was crushed by the truck, died at hospital while undergoing emergency surgery. According to a police report, at about 4 pm, a Mitsubishi dump truck was heading south along the Naparima Mayaro Road near Bristol Village when the driver of the truck attempted to overtake a car.

Reports said the driver of the truck lost control and it veered off the roadway and slammed into Ramkissoon who was standing in front of his house. He was taken to the Mayaro Health Centre and later transferred to the Sangre Grande Hospital where he died. Mayaro police are investigating.
