Rio Claro man dies while hunting

A Rio Claro man died after complaining of chest pains while hunting on Saturday.

Police said 63-year-old Shaffiath Ali of Tabaquite Road, Rio Claro went to a forested area off Killdeer Trace in Rio Claro to hunt just after 8 am. He had a shotgun.

Around 10 am, he complained of chest pains and fell down. His son Raecal Ali was contacted. He went into the forest to find his father and called the police.

Ali (S) was carried out of the forest by a bison but was declared dead by medical officials.

The body was later taken to the Sangre Grande hospital and the gun was given to police.

Police said Ali’s body had no marks of violence.
