HALF CENTURIES from West Indies opener John Campbell and captain Jason Holder stalled New Zealand's victory quest in the second and final Test at Basin Reserve, Wellington on Sunday.

The West Indies ended the third day on 244 runs for six wickets in their second innings, still requiring a further 85 runs to make the hosts bat again, with Campbell scoring a Test-best 68 and Holder 60 not out.

Holder and debutant wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva put on an unbroken 74-run seventh-wicket partnership before bad light ended proceedings a half-hour before the scheduled close of play.

Earlier, the West Indies, who resumed their first innings on 124/8, were skittled out for 131 with Tim Southee taking the final two wickets to end with figures of 5/32, while fellow fast bowler Kyle Jamieson took 5/34.

New Zealand captain Tom Latham enforced the follow-on, and left-arm pacer Trent Boult accounted for the out-of-form Kraigg Brathwaite (24) and Darren Bravo (four) in quick succession. Campbell and Shamarh Brooks were involved in third-wicket stand of 89 before Brooks (36), Chase (duck) and Campbell fell in the space of five overs.

When Jermaine Blackwood was bowled by Boult for 20, it seemed likely that the game would be wrapped up in three days. But Holder and Da Silva offered stiff resistance until the close.
