Homeless Arouca man found dead near Piarco church

Police are investigating the death of an Arouca man.

Police said nearby residents stumbled across his bloody body near the Church of the Nazarene, Piarco, at around 9 am on Wednesday.

The people called Piarco police, who went to the scene with a district medical officer, who declared the man dead.

Residents told police he was homeless.

He was identified as Vijay Lutchman and were told by residents that he was around 47.

Police said they are investigating Lutchman's death as a murder and were awaiting the results of an autopsy on Friday.

Piarco police and the Homicide Bureau of Investigations are continuing enquiries.
