Curepe man dead in traffic accident

A 59-year-old Curepe man is dead after his car collided with a truck on Thursday morning.

Newsday understands Pooran Coon Coon of McClean Street, Curepe, was driving his white Nissan AD Wagon on the Eastern Main Road near the St Augustine Private Hospital at around 5 am when he crashed into the back of a truck.

He died on impact.

Passersby saw the accident and called the police and fire officers.

Officers from the Tunapuna fire station used the jaws of life to get Coon Coon's body out of the wreckage.

Investigators said they suspect Coon Coon fell asleep while driving and that caused the crash.
