PNM picks 5 candidates for local government by-elections

THe People's National Movement (PNM) selected five prospective candidates for the local government by-elections in an exercise on Monday by the party's screening committee.

They are: Leslie Chang Fong for the electoral district of Point Fortin; Shazan Lalloosingh (St Mary's/Hindustan, Princes Town); Rasheed "Patos" Ali (Cunupia, Chaguanas); Dr Hilary Bernard (Arima Central, Arima); and Jinelle Schulere-Smart (Morne Coco/Alyce Glen, Diego Martin).

In a media release issued on Tuesday, PNM public relations officer Laurel Lezama-Lee Sing said several nominees, male and female, young and experienced, presented themselves for consideration. She added that the party maintains its tradition of presenting a PNM candidate in every election in Trinidad and Tobago.
