While supermarkets will have the option to open for 24 hours a day from December 10 until January 3, the exact opening hours of individual stores will be decided by their owners, a media release from the Supermarket Association of TT (SATT) said on Monday.

On Saturday, the Prime Minister, during a post-Cabinet media conference, announced that supermarkets will be allowed to open around the clock to more effectively manage traffic at supermarkets and reduce crowding during Christmas shopping.

In the release, the association said the owners and managers of individual supermarkets will decide their stores' hours of operation and the dates from which these changes take effect.

The opening hours will be published by SATT.

The association also called on the public to obey the public health regulations when visiting supermarkets and plan their shopping so that they can finish as early as possible.
