A 31-year-old Venezuelan woman who had been reported missing since Sunday afternoon appeared in Arima on Monday.

Arima police told Newsday that Mayra Alejandra Jaimes returned to her family after being with friends. She was said to be in good health.

Jaimes was said to have messaged relatives to say she was spending the night with friends. However, this could not be confirmed.

Her cousin Doris Pena told Newsday on Monday morning that Jaimes had finished work at 4 pm on Sunday, cleaning an elderly couple's home in Arima, but relatives had not heard from her since.

Jaimes came to Trinidad and Tobago two years ago and lives in Woodbrook, Port of Spain, where she always returned after work.

“We don't know anything about my cousin. Her phone is disconnected and it is strange. She doesn't have a boyfriend and she has never stayed to sleep outside our house,” said Pena.
