San Juan man charged with sexual assault on girls 6, 13

A San Juan man was expected to appear before a Port of Spain magistrate on Monday after he was charged with assaulting a six-year-old girl and her 13-year-old cousin last Thursday.

A police media release on Monday said the Child Protection Unit (CPU) arrested the 33-year-old man on Thursday after the 13-year-old girl reported that the man, whom they did not know, had attacked both her and her cousin.

The girl told police that her cousin had woken her and asked if she knew the man, who was standing in the doorway of their house.

The man then covered her face with a towel and assauled her in front of her cousin.

Acting WCpl Graham investigated and arrested the man, whom the girls identified. .

He was charged with one count of sexual penetration of a minor and one count of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child.

The investigation was headed by WSupt Natasha George, acting ASP Sookdeo and Sgt Bishop.
