Molino, Joevin clash in MLS Western Final

TWO of TT’s most talented footballers will square off in the 2020 Major League Soccer (MLS) Western Conference Finals at 10.30 pm, TT time, on Monday.

Kevin Molino of Minnesota United and Joevin Jones of Seattle Sounders will try to lead their teams to victory at Lumen Field in Seattle.

Both players were looking forward to the contest in an interview with TT Football Association media.

Molino said, “No given day I would have predicted this would have happened, but this is God’s work. Looking forward to the game…but more important it is a win-win situation for TT, Carenage and to uplift the communities. A really difficult time we have been through as a people, TT football and what not. We just want to inspire and show that we still have this light to shine on TT football.”

Both players grew up in Carenage.

Sounders are the defending MLS Cup champions and Jones said that will give the team belief heading into the contest.

“I think we are confident as a team going into this final. We have the experience. The guys who were there last year know what it felt like to be in a final.”

Jones is anticipating facing his friend and countryman. “It is an honour to share the same pitch with Molino. I think it is a big showing for our country and our communities.”
