A joint police, defence force exercise led to the seizure of $600,000 worth of marijuana aboard the Cabo Star vessel on Sunday.

A police media release on Monday reported that members of the Tobago Division Task Force co-ordinated by ASP Joseph and led by Sgt Stewart, Cpl Moses and members of the defence force went aboard the ship where they found three crocus bags containing marijuana.

Police kept watch of the bags but no one claimed them.

Police noted the drugs were packaged in rectangular and cylindrical cardboard which were wrapped in clear plastic and covered in sand.

The marijuana was taken to the Scarborough police station where it was weighed and found to be 13.16 kg with an estimated value of $600,000.
