Child Protection Unit officers on Saturday released a man caught on tape luring a visibly incoherent teenage girl into his car, after she refused to give a statement to them.

Police said the man, who was held on Thursday evening in Cumuto after the video was shared on social media, is not the girl's father, as he claimed. She is 14.

Police said the 32-year-old man, who appeared much older in the video, could not be charged unless the girl gives them a statement.

In the recording, which lasts three minutes and 28 seconds, the man, who appeared irate, claimed to be her father and bundled her into his car while cursing those who opposed his leaving with her.

He is heard telling onlookers, mostly women, that he was taking the girl home.

“Allyuh getting me real mad, because yuh see my children, I doh f—k with my children,” the man is heard saying as a woman repeatedly asked why he was seen kissing the girl on the mouth.
Onlookers were heard saying the girl collapsed in a nearby restaurant, exposing herself.

A woman lance corporal with the Defence Force and another woman were seen helping the girl, one wetting her face while the lance corporal held her hand as the man pulled on her arm to go with him.

The man told those looking on that he was a security guard and called on another man in the video to vouch for him, which he did.

While pulling the girl from the grip of the women, the man is heard shouting: “This is my daughter! Baby, come on. She don’t need nothing, you know why? Is either in or out, is her choice. This is my f—king child.”

As he pulled the girl away from the two women, a third is heard warning that if anything happens to her it will be a result of their inaction.

Two minutes and 21 seconds into the video, the girl was seen in the man’s car while he cursed the woman who demanded that she not go with him. The woman who recorded the video is heard asking why no one stopped the girl from going with him.

Last month, a 51-year-old man was charged with raping his 14-year-old daughter in a security booth. The man was allegedly caught on tape committing the act.

Police confirmed the two incidents are not related.
