Enough of that ‘aye, aye, aye’

THE EDITOR: I must comment on what I consider to be a nuisance in most of the parang soca songs. While some songs are good with decent arrangements and music, the (what has become mandatory) rolling of the tongue in a high-pitched nauseating sound with people in the background screaming “aye, aye, aye” is greatly overdone in some songs. It’s almost as if it has become a prerequisite for new releases.

This emerged some 25 years ago and to this day is still being used. In some songs it is actually annoying to the ear.

Come on people, music can be enjoyed without that distraction. We have to pass that stage. This has actually prompted me to write a parang soca song about it, which will be released next year.
