So breaking into homes OK?

THE EDITOR: The last time I looked up the word “illegal” it meant “wrong.” My Google search for a definition returned this result “contrary to or forbidden by law, especially criminal law.”

So with this definition in mind, I list some things that are illegal: fraud, home invasion, illegal entry, etc. Now I do not have a personal view on the migrant situation in TT but I do understand that the word illegal is used because they Venezuelans are breaking the law by entering our shores illegally. Therefore it is wrong.

What confuses me is when I see people trying to justify wrongdoing because someone is trying to make a better life for themselves and their families. If this is the road we want to go down we can also make a case for those who are breaking into homes for the purpose of robbery.

Aren’t they also just desperately trying to make a living or a better live or provide for their families? Am I soon to expect attorneys lobbying for these perpetrators of crime just as they are for the illegal migrants?

Has wrong now become right? Is everything now back-to-front? No wonder the world is in such a state. A case can also be made for people committing every single crime if we decide to go down this road.

Last time I checked, Isaiah 5:20-21 said: “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight!”

Like I said, I do not have a personal view on the migrant situation but I do understand it is wrong. Let us be careful what we are teaching the future generation lest we go down a path from which we can never recover.
