Candice Riley, mother of missing San Juan teen Ashanti Riley, 18, said police had no updates for her on Wednesday on where her daughter might be.

Ashanti Riley went missing on her way to visit her grandmother’s house for her birthday.

Candice said police visited her apartment on Wednesday afternoon to say the male suspect they had questioned on Tuesday afternoon was refusing to talk to them.

Newsday called the San Juan police station for comment, but no one was able to provide an update.

Candice said the family's own investigations have also slowed, as they have not received any additional information to take to the police.

On Sunday afternoon, Ashanti walked to the corner of her Lloyd Street, San Juan, where she lives with her mother and two siblings, to meet her cousin and boyfriend at San Juan junction ten minutes away.

She was last seen getting into a blue Almera PH (privately owned) taxi on the corner of Sunshine and Lloyd Street in security-camera footage that police obtained from a neighbour. She was wearing a denim knee-length skirt and an olive-green top with a pattern on the front.

The driver of the car was in the custody of San Juan police on Tuesday.

Anyone with information can call the San Juan police station at 624-3066 or Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS(8477).
