Gun, ammo seized, man held in Wallerfield

A 20-year-old Wallerfield man is in custody after he was found with a gun in the car he was driving on Wednesday.

Police said members of the Northern Division Task Force Area Central, based on information, co-ordinated an anti-crime exercise in Wallerfield at around 9 am.

They intercepted a car, searched it and found a Sig Sauer pistol and seven rounds of ammunition.

The man was arrested and is expected to be interviewed by investigators.

The exercise was co-ordinated by acting Insp Ishmael Pitt and ASP Coggins.

Northern Division police are continuing enquiries.
