Laventille man held with 2.1 kg of marijuana

A police exercise on Monday afternoon led to the arrest of a 25-year-old Laventille man and the seizure of a quantity of marijuana.

Police said members of the North Eastern Division Task Force led by Snr Supt Maharaj, Supt Roger Alexander, Sgt Bharath, Cpl Majeed and PCs Mieres, Dass and Andrews received information that a Nissan Cefiro was carrying the drugs.

Police intercepted the car on Industrial Road, Morvant, at around 3 pm.

On searching the car they found four blocks of marijuana weighing 2.15 kg or marijuana.

The driver of the car, who is from Eastern Quarry, Laventille, was arrested for the possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

Investigators from the Morvant CID are continuing enquiries.
