Brathwaite scores 246 in Windies warm-up

WEST INDIES opener Kraigg Brathwaite completed his double century on day two of a four-day warm-up match against New Zealand A at Queenstown, on Friday.

West Indies are preparing for a two-match Test series against New Zealand, which bowls off on Wednesday.

Currently the West Indies are playing New Zealand in a three-match T20 series.

Brathwaite, starting the day on 183 not out, was dismissed for 246 to propel West Indies, who batted first, to a massive 571 all out.

Brathwaite faced 400 deliveries and his knock included 17 fours and one six. Jermaine Blackwood, after resuming the day’s play on 19, went on to post 53. Raymon Reifer also showed some form with 46.

On day one, Darren Bravo cracked 93 and fellow left-hander John Campbell struck 45.

Bowling for New Zealand A, Cole McConchie snatched 3/130, Michael Rae took 2/100 and Rachin Ravindra grabbed 2/102.

In reply, New Zealand A got off to a positive start, as they closed on 45 without loss.
