One death, 15 new covid19 cases reported

One more person has died from the covid19 virus, bringing the number of deaths to 116. The Health Ministry reported that the patient was an elderly female with comorbidities.

Fifteen new cases of covid19 have been reported over the last 24 hours.

The ministry’s release on Wednesday evening said there are now 732 active cases.

Two of the 15 cases are from Tobago and one is from within the prison system.

One person has been discharged from public health facilities and there are 15 recovered community cases.

There are 45 people in hospital, with 32 at the Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility, with two in the intensive care unit. Twelve patients are at the Caura Hospital and one person at the St Ann’s Hospital.

There are 30 patients in step-down facilities, 17 at the Claxton Bay Correctional Facility and 13 at UWI Debe. There are 142 people in state quarantine facilities, and 642 people in home self-isolation, 175 of whom are in the prison system.

The total number of cases since March is 6,503 and there are now 5,655 recovered patients.
