8 Tobagonians receive $138k for medical aid

The Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development has distributed $138,000 in medical assistance to eight people.

The financial aid was distributed last Wednesday to offset the cost of medical procedures including transesophageal echocardiogram, complex right total knee replacement with stem, prosthetic leg and an above-knee prosthesis.

Applications for medical assistance are overseen by the Medical Assistance Review Committee. The committee is a multi-sectoral body established to assess applications for medical care for people who are unable to pay for specific types of care not available in the public health system.

The division said anyone wishing to apply for assistance can submit a letter to the Secretary of Health, Wellness and Family Development with the necessary details. Call 639-3395 ext 47118 for more information.
