126 NEW covid19 cases have been reported over the past 24 hours, a release from the Ministry of Health confirmed on Sunday afternoon. The announcement came hours after police swooped down on a party in Kelly Village, Caroni and arrested hundreds for contravening covid19 public health regulations.

The ministry's daily update stated that of the 126 new cases, 108 were recorded from within the country's prison system and the number reflects samples (tests) taken during the period November 19 to November 21, a three-day period.

Total number of infections for the country now stands at 6,450 from March to present with 5,610 recovering, 115 deaths and 725 active positive cases. A total of 44 patients remain in hospital while 29 are at state step-down facilities, 178 in state quarantine facilities and 526 self-isolating at home.

There were 63 confirmed cases on Saturday and two deaths with those 63 being from a batch of samples done between November 18 to 20.
