Digicel teases second Showdown
Digicel fans can look forward to another Showdown soon. The telecommunications and entertainment provider held the first Showdown on October 28 which paired soca singers Alison Hinds and Patrice Roberts in a ten-round, song-for-song event.
Digicel asked fans in a recent Facebook post to tell who should be paired next.
The post drew 388 comments with people suggesting pairings of Rupee and Shurwayne Winchester; Sparrow and Nelson; Kerwin Du Bois and Farmer Nappy; Destra and Fay Ann; Bunji Garlin and Skinny Fabulous; Bunji and Machel and Nadia Batson and Fay Ann among others.
Digicel TT’s head of public relations Colin Greaves said, “We are engaging the public on the feedback from the first show and the success of such. We are engaging the public on who they’d like to see next.”
He said the voting is still going on and Digicel is not sure who the next pairing is going to be. He added that the company will have to approach the given artistes to see who is interested in being a part of the virtual musical event.
“Similarly, we have not set the date for our next one as yet because we are just coming out of our big brand reboot, our recent launch of Digicel Plus and going into the launch of our Christmas campaign,” he said.
Greaves said the company has a couple of weeks before the date of the next Showdown is announced but he urged fans to continue placing their pairings and to continue voting online as to who they’d like to see.
The first Showdown with Hinds and Roberts got over 313,000 views on Digicel’s Facebook page with over 6,000 shares, 89,000 comments and 12,000 reactions.
