Manage energy consumption on TTEC application

The TT Electricity Commission (T&TEC) has updated its online platform to allow customers to monitor and even manage their energy consumption.

In a joint effort with the Ministry of Public Utilities, T&TEC began distribution of 400,000 LED bulbs on September 21. The initiative is meant to encourage the public to practise energy management and conservation.

The new energy conservation application, available on the company’s website, allows customers, once registered on the website, to manage their energy consumption.

T&TEC Corporate Communications Manager Annabelle Brasnell said the application is not available as a phone app, but it can still be accessed on any device through the website. The application is linked with each customer’s personalised data and allows customers to track historical patterns, manage accounts and pay bills.

In the energy conservation tab, customers can view graphical representations of their energy usage, cost, and environmental impact.

Customers can also set “usages goals” to manage their spending. The average highest and lowest bills paid by the customer over a 24-month period is also available. Email notifications can also be sent when the customer is approaching their usage goal to help them stay on track.

Brasnell said the LED bulb distribution initiative is still ongoing. Customers receive a free pack of four LED bulbs with every bill payment. She was unable to say at the time of her conversation with Newsday how many bulbs have been distributed to date. Information on the initiative is also available on the company’s website.
