The inaugural Virtual Scotiabank Women against Breast Cancer 5K gets under way on social media platforms Facebook and Instagram on Saturday, from 3pm.

Entrants and enthusiasts can follow @ScotiaTT on Instagram and Scotia Trinidad and Tobago Foundation on Facebook to receive timely updates and information. It is also expected to be broadcast on YouTube.

The annual event was originally scheduled to run off on October 10. However, due to the pandemic organisers opted to adjust its signature event in commemoration of Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Scotiabank’s country head and senior vice-president Stephen Bagnarol will give opening remarks before the novel activities begin.

There will be a wellness and yoga session by Kaylan Bartholomew folowed by remarks from Scotiabank TT Foundation chairperson Roxanne de Freitas. A Zumba session will be led by fitness group Nadia and Andy. DJ Ana follows with a short musical set and introduces a high intensity interval training session with Jenna Camacho of JCam Fitness.

Founder of AbNormal Progress and social inclusion consultant Shamla Maharaj is also scheduled to share a light moment with this year’s participants. Following this, occupational therapist of PreHab Services Ltd Priya Gomes hosts a session of modified exercises for people with disabilities and limited mobility. Gomes will also unveil new exercises that can be done while sitting.

DJ Private Ryan will bring the curtain down with the Press Play Quarantine Vibes.

Scotiabank TT Foundation will match all funds contributed and the total amount will be donated to this year’s beneficiary, the TT Cancer Society.
