Investigators from the Financial Investigations Bureau (FIB) have been given permission by the courts to detain $6.4 million in cash seized from the home of "Drugs Sou-Sou" (DSS) administrators.

Newsday understands the police applied to keep the cash in their custody. The request was granted by Arima magistrate Cheron Raphael on Thursday afternoon.

The money, which was seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act, will remain in police custody for the next three months while investigators try to trace its origins and build their case.

A large number of receipts, receiptbooks and other financial documents were seized by police during a raid at the La Horquetta home of the administrator on Tuesday.
