Unidentified man shot, killed on George Street

AN unidentified man was gunned down on George Street in Port of Spain, in what police say may have been a revenge "hit" for a murder which took place five days ago.

Police said that at about 8 pm, the man's body was found on the sidewalk shortly after gunshots were heard in the area. They said the killing may be connected to an attack on Shaquille Garrick on Saturday afternoon.

Police reported that Garrick, of Basilon Street, East Dry River, Port of Spain, was chased by gunmen along La Resource Street before being shot at around 2.30 pm. He later collapsed in a yard and died.

The unidentified man's body was removed to the Forensic Science Centre in St James, where an autopsy will be done once he has been identified. Investigations are continuing.
