Saying Rousillac United places a high value on education, the president of the community group donated 60 electronic tablets to three primary schools in the area on Tuesday.

Krish Ramoutar told Newsday, "We support these schools and whatever projects they are involved in. It is only natural for us to give them these devices at this time."

He was referring to Delhi Road Hindu, Rousillac Presbyterian and Rousillac Hindu.

"We have been working with these schools for the past 35 years. So this is just another event to serve the community. Since 1983, this group has been actively involved in the community," Ramoutar said by phone.

Earlier in the day at the Rousillac Presbyterian School, he donated the tablets on behalf of the group. Principals Geeta Ramsaran, Rajdeo Mohan and Robert Seerattan received them on behalf of their respective schools.

Former chairman of the Siparia Regional Corporation Dr Glenn Ramadharsingh praised Ramoutar and the group for the initiative.

"This group hosts events like the annual bazaar Rousillac United Fiesta, which is one of the largest in the country. Rousillac United is one of the largest corporate sponsors in this community," Ramadharsingh said.
