TOKYO Olympic debutant Dylan Carter continued his good run of form at the International Swimming League (ISL) in Hungary, when he placed fourth in the Men’s 100m backstroke on Sunday.

At the Duna Arena in Budapest, the Los Angeles Current (LAC) representative clocked a season’s best time of 50.85 seconds. The 24-year old bettered his previous time of 51.28s which was recorded in his sixth place finish in the first round of competition last weekend.

Grabbing top spot in the 100m back was Japanese Ryosuke Irie (49.91s) of the Tokyo Frog Kings. Placing in runner-up position was Toronto Titans’ Shane Ryan (50.22s) while Carter’s LAC club mate, Ryan Murphy (50.21s) placed third overall.

Carter’s team performance propelled LAC to the top of the overall standings after two days of competition.

LAC concluded the weekend’s races with 535.5 points while Tokyo Frog Kings closed on 506.5 points. Rounding off the top-three was Toronto Titans with 401 points.

On Saturday, Carter reset his personal best time of 21.42 seconds in the 50m freestyle.

He placed seventh. The weekend prior, the TT swimmer clocked 21.51 seconds in the same event.

The 2018 Commonwealth Games silver medallist also teamed up with club mates Apostolos Christou, Andrew Seliskar and Fernando Scheffer to place sixth (3:10.66) in the Men’s 4x100m free.

At last weekend’s opening schedule, Carter placed fourth in the men’s 50m backstroke in 23.90s while teammate Murphy topped the field in 22.99s on day-one. This swim represented his fifth fastest performance in this event ever.

In 2018, the athlete clocked his best time of 23.19s at the final of the 2018 World Short Course Swimming Championships. Carter’s time in this event is also a national record and also the fastest time for the CARIFTA region and CCCAN (Central American and Caribbean) federations.
