Still awaiting payment for ministry job

THE EDITOR: I have been unemployed since March 16 due to the coronavirus pandemic. I am also a single parent and applied to be an invigilator for the CSEC/CAPE exams 2020. I reported to duty and completed the task that was given but I am yet to receive payment for the job done since July.

I have visited the Ministry of Education many times seeking information about when invigilators will be paid and often get the run-around. Also, calls and e-mails to the ministry go unanswered.

It is very unfair to do a job and months after not to be paid. It is also unfair that invigilators went out to work during the pandemic, putting ourselves at risk, and can’t get the money owed to us.

Being unemployed I am desperate and am depending on this money to provide whatever little I can for my child. It is very inconsiderate of the ministry and unfair to invigilators to keep us waiting – and without a hint of when we will be paid.

Can anyone offer any assistance? It will be greatly appreciated.
