The PNM Tobago Council on Monday continued its screening of nominees on Monday for the upcoming THA election.

By press time on Monday, the committee had screened nominees in four of the remaining six electoral districts – Roxborough/Delaford, Buccoo/Mt Pleasant, Plymouth/Golden Lane and Black Rock/Whim/Spring Garden. The screening, which started Sunday, was held at the party's campaign headquarters at Pump Mill, Scarborough.

Chief Secretary Ancil Dennis was the first nominee to face the eight-man screening committee, headed by PNM Tobago Council political leader Tracy Davidson-Celestine.

Dennis, who was screened unopposed, is hoping the represent the people of Buccoo/Mt Pleasant for a third consecutive term.

PNM Womens' League executive member Melissa James Guy was screened for the Plymouth/Golden Lane seat currently held by Assistant Secretary in the Division of Education, Innovation and Energy Marisha Osmond.

James Guy described the process as smooth and conversational.

'I must commend the People's National Movement on the due diligence that they conduct with regard to the selection of candidates," she told reporters.

"It is no walk in the park with the PNM."

She said she was screened for almost 40 minutes.

James Guy is no stranger to politics. She was screened four years ago for the seat.

She is hoping to help the electoral district reach its potential.

"There is a lot of latent potential in the area that is still untouched and unrecognised and I would like to journey with the people of the electoral district to bring these things to fruition."
