THE EDITOR: The PM once said that the balance between rich and poor was not to be equated to a see-saw, with one having to go down for the other to go up.
In the same way there is no need to pull down and discourage young participants in our democracy in order to make your side look good.
We should be encouraged by the number of first-time participants in our Parliament, and with experience they will surely do better and be better every day. In our Parliament there is room for both Opposition and Government members, and there are new members in the House and Senate.
The future surely depends on our younger adults. I applaud their courage and commitment to being good citizens. The new members will need to grow a thick skin to survive in Parliament.
And we need procurement legislation now.
