Woman escapes kidnapping, sexual assault by driver

A 29-year-old St Joseph taxi driver is expected to be interviewed by investigators today after he tried to kidnap a passenger on Friday night.

Police said the man was at the Curepe Junction in his Nissan Tiida at around 9.45 pm when a woman asked to be taken to Tobin Lane, Curepe.

After she got into the passenger seat, the man told her he was going to buy two cigarettes. She complained that she did not pay him for that, and he continued driving.

Later on, while driving away from where she asked to be taken, the man began playing with his penis and touching her leg .

When he reached Evans Street, Curepe, the woman kicked the door open. She jumped out of the car and ran to the police station, where she made a report.

St Joseph police found the man and arrested him.
