The Ministry of Education and the Telecommunication Authority of TT (TATT) signed a memorandum of understanding on Friday to supply ICT-enabled devices and SIM-cards with data plans to public schools.

ICT-enabled devices include tablets equipped with a SIM card slot, screen protectors and cases that will be connected to the internet by the mobile service provider.

A release on Friday said the signing took place at TATT’s Barataria office and will provide 10,000 devices to students in need.

It also said the ministry will accept and distribute them to students.

The ministry said the provision of these devices supports the government’s commitment to ensuring an “equitable, accessible and quality education for all.”
