The Prime Minister said of the 105 covid19 deaths in TT, one person was his close friend and neighbour.
He made the statement at a press conference in Tobago on Saturday afternoon.
He urged the public not to become complacent as the daily case numbers continue to decrease.
On the death of his friend, he said, "When it comes home to you that closely, it is difficult to think about a number or even a name.
"It is when you face that outcome of the pandemic that you really know you are in a dangerous place."
Dr Rowley said although he has been dealing with navigating the pandemic for months, he feels "very different.
"And I want to warn the national community not to get tired of responding properly to this pandemic because that is what will keep us all alive."
