Bmobile gives 5 years of connectivity, cell phones to top SEA students

The top performing students for this year’s SEA exams, who have already been awarded with laptops by Ministry of Education, will also receive free internet for their first five years of secondary school from bmobile.

A release issued by the telecommunications company on Wednesday said this year's top students recognised by Minister of Education Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly will also receive a cell phone with a free postpaid plan for the same time.

The top 11 students include the top three students overall, Ameerah Beekhoo, Anjanaa Dan and Shushmita Ramsawak; top performers from special schools Mattia Street and Jordan Thorne; the top male student Vineet Ramsarran; and five top performers from schools on academic watch, Shanira Beebakhee, Adrianna Kerr, Elisea King, Princess Ramlal and Jewel Vaughans.

TSTT’s general manager of Shared Services Gerard Cooper said, “bmobile has been recognising the nation’s top SEA performers for over five years and we were very excited to include the top students of our special needs schools this year.

“In addition to the everyday challenges they live with, these students overcame unprecedented challenges this year to shine and excel. We believe it is critical to reward and help them along their journey towards continued success especially as they adjust to the new normal of online learning.”

At the ceremony on October 17, Gadsby-Dolly said it was important to include students from special schools in this year’s celebrations as it was part of her ministry’s mandate to “reflect the inclusive Vision 2030 society we strive to build.”
