THE Prime Minister has announced that beaches will be reopened from Monday – but not rivers and ponds.
He made the announcement at a press conference in Tobago on Saturday afternoon.
But he warned the public not to immediately rush in high numbers, adding that it is difficult to police "every beach in TT."
"Please, people of TT. All of allyuh doh run to Maracas Beach or Crown Point, because that is precisely what we don't want. Because if you do that, you would create the exact environment that we are trying to avoid.
"You go there to meet people, you want to be there because the lime and the action is there. The covid is there, too. So please, it would be very advisable to go to another beach which you haven't gone too in a long time. Don't all congregate at the popular beaches."
He said no cooking or partying is allowed at these places.
"Partying will come later," he said.
"Try and protect yourself by not being in a crowd."
