Siparia man charged for murder of ex-girlfriend

A 42-year-old Siparia man has been charged for the murder of his ex-girlfriend, whose body was discovered at a WASA well in Santa Flora.

Kerry Kayon Daniel was expected to appear virtually before a Siparia magistrate on Friday, following instructions from deputy director of public prosecution Joan Honore-Paul.

Police said Teneil Cupid was reported missing by her mother, Natalie Monzano, on October 13 to the Fyzabad police. Monzano said Cupid left home around 10.20 pm on October 12 with Daniel to collect clothes and buy food. She never returned.

Daniel was arrested after Cupid’s naked body was found by a WASA worker doing routine checks at the site at Syncline Road.

Cupid, 23, of Easy Street, Fyzabad, was the mother of two young children.

Reports said Cupid and Daniel ended their relation about three weeks before her murder because of domestic abuse.

The investigation and arrest were made by WPCs Dyer-Baptiste and Callender, PC Nelson, acting insp Jones, sgts Elvin and James, with legal aid from PC Lewis.
