Seven held for assault, rape in St Joseph

Seven men are in police custody after an early-morning exercise in St Joseph on Friday.

Police said members of the St Joseph CID, the Northern Division Task Force West and the police Canine unit carried out a series of searches and raids between midnight and 6 am.

They arrested a 24-year-old, two 34-year-olds, a 35-year-old, two 53-year-olds and a 61-year-old for a variety of offences including possession of marijuana, drug trafficking, receiving stolen items, assalt and rape.

The police team was led by led by Snr Supt Ramkhelawan, ASP Williams and Insp Hernandez.

St Joseph police are continuing enquiries.
