The autopsy on tradesman Allan Stoute has been postponed to Monday to allow for a covid19 swab test to be done on his body, sources said.

Stoute, 38, was shot dead during a confrontation with an older male relative at the family's home at Mt Pleasant, Arima, on Thursday morning.

During the confrontation, Stoute reportedly pulled out a cutlass and approached the relative, who shot him.

The relative has since been arrested.

Stoute's older brother Darren visited the Forensic Science Centre, St James, on Friday to identify the body.

The elder Stoute told Newsday, "I was working earlier today but I was told that I had to come in and identify his body, so I decided to come in for that. If it wasn't for my friend who worked in the funeral home who called me to tell me that, I would not have known."

The relative is still in police custody.

When Newsday visited the family's home on Thursday, one of Stoute's brothers said the confrontation had stemmed from years of provocation bythe male relative.

Arima CID and members of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region II are continuing enquiries.
